报告人简介:陈娅红,毕业于上海交通大学数学专业,理学博士,教授,硕导。浙江省高校高等数学教学研究会常务理事,浙江省应用数学会理事。浙江省高校优秀青年教师资助计划培养对象,市“138”人才工程培养人员。师从上海交通大学张晓东教授,主要研究化学图论、谱极值理论、复杂网络及其相关问题。曾赴以色列理工学院、佐治亚理工学院、佐治亚南方大学访学交流。主持并完成图论方向的科研课题10项,其中国家自然科学基金项目1项,浙江省自然科学基金项目1项,浙江省教育厅科研计划项目4项,市厅级项目4项。近年在《DiscreteMathematics》、《DiscreteApplied Mathematics》、《Linear Algebra and its Applications》等SCI学术期刊上发表论文20多篇。

报告摘要:The eccentricity of a vertex $v$ in a graph $G$ isthe maximum distance from $v$ to any other vertex. The vertices whoseeccentricity are equal to the diameter (the maximum eccentricity) of $G$ arecalled peripheral vertices. In trees the eccentricity at $v$ can always beachieved by the distance from $v$ to a peripheral vertex. From this observationwe are motivated to introduce normality of a vertex $v$ as the minimum distancefrom $v$ to any peripheral vertex. We consider the properties of the normalityas well as the middle part of a tree with respect to this concept. Variousrelated observations are discussed and compared with those related to theeccentricity. Then, analogous to the sum of eccentricities we consider the sumof normalities. After briefly discussing the extremal problems in generalgraphs we focus on trees and trees under various constraints. As opposed to thepath and star in numerous extremal problems, we present several interesting andunexpected extremal structures. Lastly we consider the difference betweeneccentricity and normality, and the sum of these differences. We also introducesome unsolved problems in the context.
